In the United States, football is arguably the most popular sport; however, nowadays it may also be the most controversial one. There has been a huge issue with concussions recently and people are beginning to question the safety of the sport. The main area of concern is that of head trauma. The piece of equipment responsible for protecting the players against this is the football helmet, a large piece of plastic filled with some padding meant to provide maximum head protection. This means that it is a valuable piece of gear for which most football organizations and schools are willing to pay a large amount. It’s a small price to pay to prevent concussions…right?
